PA au: Threads of change 1

Theo watched as Widow Bite got scolded for their failure. Agent in black even slapped them leaving angry red mark on spiders cheek. Yet Widow just took it without word, without flinching.

"Remember what is on the line, bitch. Make more mistakes and..." Agent looked up when another pushed Theo in the open from his hiding place. He stumbled over his feet looking genuinely scared. What was happening?

"Well looks who’s here." Widow looked at Angelus finally showing some emotions in form of wide eyes like they didn’t believe he was there. He shouldn’t be there.

"Leave him out of this! He doesn’t know anything!" Widow turned to head agent as Theo was hold in place by other.

"Tsk, tsk, tsk. Thinking about others like you always do. What an idiot you are. He saw and heard. I’m sure our sales would sky rocket if he changes sides tho. He is mildly popular for his good looks and wings. Nothing more is interesting about him." Head agent shrugged taking out his phone and texting quickly to somebody. Theo just stared. Was that how people saw him? As mediocre, good for his looks? When head agent got response he grinned.

"Higher ups approved, Theophrastus Weiss, you are now officially part of our program Antagonists." Agent grinned even more when Theo paled.

"We are government. We know everything about you and your silly games. Bet Widow here has more to tell you as she will be your mentor and personally responsible for you. If you fail in your missions she will get punished. And trust me, it will happen. Other than being pretty bird in cage, you are pretty useless, you know?" With laugh agent disappeared leaving shaken Theo and emotionless Widow behind.

"W... why? What?"

With sigh Widow looked at confused Theo, leaning against brick wall not looking at him they started telling him about what was really going on.

"First off... don’t try to tell anybody, running is pointless too. They know everything about you and your family. Your loved ones. And it would be easy to turn them to causality of war between heroes and antagonists." Widow's voice was flat and emotionless. They looked bitter like this was sore spot for them.

"They are secret government organisation that controls generations of magical beings turning them against others to boost public opinion and make them feel safe. We would be first to protect everybody if real threat would arise. But so far, every fight was staged so heroes would win." Widow looked at shocked Theo. There was something in their eyes like they gave up everything. Were too tired to even try.

"S... staged? S... so... everything we did?" Stammering over his words Angelus tried to wrap his mind around this predicament. He thought so highly about himself. Being hero and having large fanbase. But now he was told everything was…

"Yes, it was pointless. Every antagonist are far more powerful than they let out. We are allowed occasional destruction but only in places that would be demolished either way. We don’t get paid... much and got hurt a lot. Next meeting of Antagonists I will take you with me. You will get your phone and contract. And no, I won’t tell you my civil identity." Widow looked tired. Extremely tired.

"T... this is hard to... understand. I... I was supposed to be hero." Theo collapsed on floor feeling drained and useless. His world was broken apart as he got pulled in world that held Widow captured in webs of lies and blackmail.

"If my plan works... you will still be one." With tired smile Widow patted him on head and jumped away formulating plan that would put them as main villain in turning Angelus evil.
